Having people talk to their plants is perceived as a procedure that helps the plants grow and at the same time has a good impact on human well-being. After all, one can talk to them about anything one wants without consequences. But is it really without consequences?
“We have to talk” is a performative attempt at communication between humans and non-humans and at the same time a love story. It constantly fails, but that doesn’t stop one from initiating this speech act all over again.
